This weekend we continue in the great celebration of Epiphany.  We will also be honoring our Scouting program at CUMC with Boy Scout Sunday..The scouts will be participating in our 8:30am Sunday Morning Service. I will leading the Traditional worship services and sharing the message:
Epiphany Hope: Hope Beyond Bitterness: When Life Is Not Fair"

We celebrated a couple days early...Luke Silas Smith our new Grandson who came  Sunday, January 19th....

    Message: Epiphany Hope: Hope Beyond our Trials"

January 22nd has always been a day that has haunted my heart..
January 22 1992 my dad and mom were in a car accident and this took the life of my dad and put my mom in the hospital and rehab for the next 3 months.
I was coach Middle School Basketball at Kane and had to give up the duty due to the need to be with my mom and help with all the details of the accident, funeral for my dad, follow up and then helping with my mom with her return to home.
January 22nd, 1996 four years later now the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Kane I had a group of seniors who were with me when they were in 8th grade as Middle School players. We were playing Dubois Central Catholic at their small gym. As we had our pre-game meeting and a time of prayer...one of the players said...Coach...we remember January 22nd tonight we will win this one to honor the remembrance of your dad....WOW!!! talk about an emotional moment for me....Well, the team did just that...went out and played their hearts our and won it for the remembrance of my dad "Smittty"Smith....
Well this week coming up is January, 22nd   I will be missing the week of basketball and being at the church...for on Wednesday January 22nd our 2nd grandchild will be born. Our Daughter in law Colleen and son Paul are having a C-Section and we will be surprised to see if it is another grandaughter or grandson.
January 22...well, yes I will carrying with me the haunting of January 1992 but a new grand child to be born on January 22nd 2014..
God has a way of bring healing to our dark moments..
God has a way of bring joy to the time of sadness.
God has the first and believe me always the last Word..
I am a waiting God's last word on this one..

We travel in this special Season of Epiphany. A great season of remembering the Light of Jesus Christ that came for all people. The prophet Isaiah said: "The Light will shine in the midst of Darkness. We celebrate the light given by God through Christ to shine in and through us...
I will be leading the Traditional Worship This weekend.
We begin a new Message series: "Epiphany Hope" this weekend we will be sharing Epiphany Hope: Hope Beyond Unfairness"  There is alot of unfairness out there but God can speak in and through us to let God's message proclaim the mystery of God's love....
When most people are seeing cold, fear and darkness...in this great season of Epiphany we celebrate warmth, faith and light.

WEEKEND WORSHIP....JANUARY 11TH & 12TH....CELEBRATING THE BAPTISM OF OUR LORD...

We will be sharing in a special weekend of worship as we remember the Baptism of our Lord and the connection between our Lord's baptism and ours. We will also be sharing in a time of spiritually remembering our baptism.
I will be leading the contemporary worship this weekend and we will be officially welcoming Bill Pinciotti to our church as the new Coordinator of Contemporary Worship.
I will be sharing the message this weekend;  "A Voice From Heaven"
What a great weekend to remember spiritually what our Lord has done for us in our baptism.

JANUARY 4TH & 5TH CELEBRATING EPIPHANY

WEEKEND WORSHIP.....JANUARY 4TH & 5TH...CELEBRATING EPIPHANY

We celebrate the great celebration of Epiphany and receive New Year's Holy Communion. I will be leading the Traditional Worship this weekend sharing the message: "Follow The Star"  We will be sharing the great story of the Visit of the Wise Men to the Christ child.
What a great opportunity for you and I to recommit ourselves in this new year to be that follower of Christ. We begin the new year with a great celebration.

Come and follow the star as we are led to the great place of God's presence!
